My Experience at the Okkie Jooste Camp

I did not expect a camp to be a part of the Life Science 152 module. At first, I was hesitant about going to the camp, because I am not used to camping with people I barely know.
Eventually, I decided that it would be a great experience to go on the camp because I have never been to Jonkershoek Nature Reserve before.

On arrival, I discovered that the "hut thingy"  we moved in to had no electricity. I thought to myself, "hell no, I need my phone and I need light in my life because I have no torch!". I requested the key from Rose so I could move into another "hut thingy". I shared a room with Junaid, Shakeel, Brandon (Library Guy), Mango and Odwa.

We were divided into three teams, red team, blue team and green team. I had the most awesome combination of team members, most of whom are already my everyday crew of friends. Eric was the assigned facilitator for the red team, but then Bradley took over because he liked our team spirit. We participated in lots of team building activities (Which red team won most of :)) as well as educational activities.

The Red team was in charge of the "Braai Day". It was a very hectic day because everyone was putting pressure on us to finish the food on time. However, we were successful in fulfilling our duties and everyone enjoyed their food (Hopefully, no complaints).

I left the camp tired and feeling dirty. It was a great experience because we became closer to each other as a class and not a group of friends.
